Recognised for his precise touch and his roots in the stride tradition, he has developed a distinctive harmonic language and places great importance on interaction with his fellow musicians and the audience.

Leader of the Emmet Cohen Trio, he pursues an international career as a performer and educator, inspiring musicians of all ages to cultivate attentive listening and meaningful interaction with their audiences. He has appeared at prestigious jazz festivals including Newport, Monterey and North Sea, as well as major concert halls and iconic clubs around the world.

Having begun piano lessons with the Suzuki method at the age of three, Emmet Cohen holds degrees in jazz piano from the Manhattan School of Music and the University of Miami. A finalist in leading international competitions, he has also collaborated with numerous jazz legends, including Ron Carter, Benny Golson, Christian McBride and Kurt Elling.
